Highlights

Picture this, you are about to tee off on a golf course designed by one of the world’s greatest golfers. The gauntlet is down and the competition is on.

CarolinaSusi Tours together with their local golf pro have designed a 16 day first class tour and golf package. You play on a wide selection of different and challenging golf courses ranging from the scenic Lakes area of Northern Italy to the picturesque region of Tuscany.

Our golf pro has designed a competition package to challenge every level of golfing experience. But this tour is not just about golf, it also combines the very best mix of sightseeing, wine tasting, food and cultural experiences. Non-playing partners are offered an alternative itinerary.

The tour begins with a four night stay in Varese in the Lakes area of Northern Italy. This sophisticated historic town is the summer destination for many wealthy Milanese.

Our first day of golf is on a course designed by Jack Nicklaus, suited to both experienced and casual player. Our golfing pro will be on hand to offer help and advice throughout the day.

Breaking from golf we take time to explore Lake Como. We spend a day in Bellagio, the self-proclaimed Pearl of the Lake, surrounded by magnificent mountains leading into lakes views. Bellagio also boasts some delightful restaurants and elegant boutiques.

To continue our lakes journey we board our private taxi for a leisurely cruise on Lake Maggiore to the Borromeo Islands. Our first stop is at Isola Madre where we will have a short tour of the historic Palazzo Madre. After some leisure time, we cruise to Isola dei Pescatore (Fisherman’s Island) for lunch. Then we cruise on to the most famous of the Borromeo Islands, the family owned Isola Bella. The opulent Palazzo and Baroque styled gardens stand majestically overlooking the lake.

Travelling further east we move to the sparkling wine region of Franciacorta. Naturally we stop to taste the region’s famous wine coupled, of course, with some local food specialities for lunch. We continue on to Provaglio d’Iseo on Lake Iseo where we spend the next two nights. The next morning, we play a round or two at the par 72, Franciacorta Golf Club. Before teeing off, our golf pro will offer a clinic to anyone wanting to sharpen their stroke. We do stop for lunch and of course some of the local wine.

Our last location in the Lakes area is spent in the Veneto region with three nights in Bassano del Grappa. Bassano is located very near to the Austrian border at the base of the Pre-Alps. Today Bassano is famous for the production of Grappa, a very potent spirit distilled locally from the pulp, skin and seeds of the grapes. On our way to Bassano we visit Verona, the back drop for Shakespeare’s famous play, Romeo and Juliet, where you will have leisure time to explore.

A stay in the Veneto region would be incomplete without a day spent exploring the bustling canals of Venice. Together with our local guide, we wander through some of the back streets and local markets of this iconic city. As always, we make sure you have leisure time to continue your exploration on your own.

Hitting the golf course again we play the Martin Croze designed course at Colli Berici near Vicenza. The principal features of this course are the changing altitudes and rolling hills which might need a bit of strategizing with our golf pro ’s advice.

We say “Arrivederci” to the Veneto region and travel south west to Tuscany. Our route takes us through Emilia Romagna where we stop in Bologna for lunch.

The ancient Tuscan town of Montecatini Terme was first made famous by the Romans who came to partake of the healing waters in the thermal springs. It is our home for the next five nights.

There’s more golf as we hit the local Montecatini Golf Club. It is an older par 72 course with challenging dog-legs, natural water obstacles and trees. Don’t despair is the challenge becomes too great as the views are spectacular. We are in wine country, so we enjoy a day in the Chianti region where we will sample wine from some of the oldest wineries in the region. Then there’s lunch Italian style at a local osteria. It usually takes us all afternoon.

Test your water hazard skills at the par 71 Versillia Golf Club. This unique course is only a short distance from the sea. The water holes are many metres long but not too deep should you need to retrieve a ball or two. Our golf pro of course is on hand with some advice and tips.

We complete our time in Tuscany with a trip to the iconic city of Florence. Our local guide takes us through the most famous piazzas as well as some of the lesser known gems hidden in this city. And of course there’s leisure time for you to continue exploring. Perhaps visit the famous galleries or the leather markets for that Florentine leather jacket or bag!

Our final gala dinner and awards night is sure to be an interesting collection of stories and triumphs.

Come and join CarolinaSusi Tours from 15 May to 30 May 2017.

Cost for golfers which includes all our golfing needs except clubs $9,850. If you are a non-golfer the cost is $7,550 Single supplement is $1255.
